We decided as a family to help our son manage ADHD and being on the spectrum with diet choices. I have put together a list of what has helped him and has helped other physical problems we discovered on path to healing and feeling better.
- Eliminate Gluten and Dairy
- Eliminate Artificial Colors and Flavors
- Artificial Sweetners
- Artificial Fragances
Instead of looking at all the things that aren’t recommended to eat, I just remember NO processed food, if we can’t pronounce it – don’t eat it, and if great great grandma wouldn’t know what it is don’t eat it.
A few other tips that help us
- high protein breakfast
- Limit sugar intake
- Just because you give up gluten doesn’t mean buy a gluten free processed food
Another great resource in helping with diet change is the Feingold Association, I highly recommend buying a membership and trying out their services (diet help), they also have great facebook pages that members can join.
**I am not a physician, these are my personal beliefs and what has helped us. If going to make diet changes consult with a doctor first**
